A large ROBERT DOISNEAU poster featuring "The Kiss by the Hotel de Ville," which was once a must for the bedroom wall of any fashion student, shows a young couple kissing passionately amid the hustle and bustle of a Paris street. They are oblivious to the passers-by around them while locked in an embrace that captures the romance of Paris.
The photograph has the town hall in the background and the tables of a cafe in the foreground. It has been reproduced millions of times on cards and posters. Robert Doisneau was born on April 14, 1912, in Gentilly, France. Both his parents had died by the time he was seven but he went on to become one of the greatest photographers of all time.
