A striking Stahlwille stainless steel candle holder, designed in a bold zig-zag, geometric form that captures the clean lines and modernist sensibility of mid-20th-century German design. The piece accommodates three 'regular-sized' candles, each set into a black bakelite holder that provides a sharp contrast against the polished steel frame. Its sculptural, architectural silhouette makes it as much a display object as a functional candle holder.
The piece is in overall good vintage condition, showing some light signs of wear consistent with age and use, but still retaining its original presence and charm. The original Stahlwille brand is intact on the underside, confirming authenticity.
Background: Stahlwille, established in 1862 in Wuppertal, Germany, is primarily renowned as a high-quality tool manufacturer. However, during the post-war modernist period (1950s–1970s), the company briefly ventured into household and decorative stainless steel goods, leveraging its precision engineering and mastery of steel production. These experimental home accessories, such as trays, cutlery, and candle holders, were produced in relatively small numbers compared to their industrial output, making them collectible today.
