A delicate signed Flygsfors 1952 glass bowl, small in size yet full of character. The piece features a fluid, freeform silhouette with softly curved edges and a clear glass body resting on a circular foot. Its minimalist form is enhanced by subtle light refractions, embodying the mid-century Scandinavian aesthetic of organic, sculptural glass design. The engraved “Flygsfors 1952” signature on the base confirms its authenticity and early production.
Flygsfors Glasbruk was a Swedish glassworks founded in 1888, initially producing window glass before moving into tableware and decorative glass in the 20th century. By the 1940s–50s, Flygsfors became renowned for its innovative art glass, particularly under the direction of designers like Paul Kedelv, who introduced the celebrated “Coquille” series, known for organic forms and layered color techniques. Pieces from the early 1950s, such as this bowl, reflect the transition into modernist freeform Scandinavian glassmaking, which gained international acclaim. The company operated until its closure in 1979, leaving behind a highly collectible body of work.
