A stunning Vintage set of six "China" chairs in the manner of Hans J. Wegner. These 4283 model chairs were originally made by Fritz Hansen in Denmark in 1944.
This particular set originates from Zimbabwe and history dictates that some of these were indeed reproduced in Rhodesia many, many years ago. So we have to assume these are reproductions, but extremely well made with a magnificent wood grain present.
The chairs have a notable provenance, originating from owners who own various pieces, including original and marked items from France & Son and Elias Swedberg to name a few, so we have no doubt these chairs were made to the highest standards.
They sit very comfortably with their special backrest design and cushions.
The chairs are in their original state, with minimal restoration done to ensure patina, but new seat pads added. They are in great vintage condition.
The price is for the set.

Note/Disclaimer:
Our images form part of the item/s description. Although all effort is made to refurbish our furniture to represent its original state best, it must be noted that most of the items we source date between the 1950s to the late 1970s. For this reason and although restored, signs of their vintage condition & age might still be visible. We will normally point out any visible/notable concerns. Take note of all photos or view the item in store before purchasing.
As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness the quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
