Introducing a remarkable set of six solid mahogany dining chairs, locally crafted during the 1960s by DS Vorster. Renowned for their expertise in creating classic Mid-Century furniture with clean lines, this South African manufacturer has left their mark on these exceptional pieces.
These chairs boast a distinctive design, featuring an eye-catching unique twist on the wooden frame around the seat base and an angular backrest. This particular seat base design adds a touch of uniqueness that sets them apart.
Designed for both style and comfort, these chairs offer an upholstered backrest ensuring a pleasant seating experience. The upholstery process, however, required meticulous attention due to the presence of metal supports and hand-stitch closing on the underside of the backrest inserts.
We have carefully restored and sealed the wooden frames, unveiling their magnificent rich tone. The chairs now showcase a renewed allure. Additionally, we have added new upholstery in a durable, high rub count Hertex fabric in a sophisticated charcoal hue, along with fresh foam for enhanced comfort.
Although these chairs bear some signs of their age, such as minor repairs done here and there, their overall restored condition is excellent. Timeless beauty and exceptional craftsmanship.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness the quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
