A superbly made set of eight Artecasa dining chairs in solid Kiaat, with a sculptural quality that becomes more apparent the closer you look.
Solid in construction, yet remarkably refined in profile, the chairs showcase Artecasa’s distinctive approach to South African furniture design.
The shaped Kiaat frames flow through a series of softened curves and rounded transitions, giving the chairs a strong three-dimensional presence from every angle. There is real weight to the construction without the design ever feeling heavy, a balance that makes this set particularly impressive.
The set comprises six dining chairs and two carvers. The broader carvers, traditionally positioned at the heads of the table, give the full set a sense of scale and occasion while retaining the same sculptural language as the side chairs.
The wood has been fully restored and refinished, bringing the rich colour and grain of the Kiaat back to the fore. All eight chairs have been newly upholstered in a linen-look, sand coloured fabric from Hertex, a warm neutral that sits particularly well against the wood.
Strong, beautifully constructed and unmistakably of its period, these chairs can comfortably hold their own around a substantial dining table while remaining entirely relevant in a contemporary interior.

Condition:
The set has been fully restored, with the Kiaat refinished and all eight chairs newly reupholstered, while retaining extremely minor signs of its age.
