This set of four chairs by Henning Kjaernulf (attributed) from the 1960s represents a quintessential example of Danish modernism, merging comfort with meticulous craftsmanship. Constructed from rich solid oak wood and upholstered in the original 100% wool oatmeal fabric, these chairs reflect Kjaernulf’s dedication to quality and design detail, evident in every line and curve. The structure is not only visually appealing, but also crafted to provide lasting comfort and elegance.
Preserved entirely in original condition (besides minor repairs and polishing), these chairs retain a beautiful, authentic patina that adds character without compromising their integrity.
This preservation enhances their value, showcasing their historical and aesthetic significance. The careful maintenance of the original materials and finish ensures they remain a treasured, timeless piece of Danish design heritage.
Note that some research also point to Danish Designer Johannes Andersen and Erik Buch for Paul Dinesen, but we have found the best attribution to Danish designer Kjaermulf or Buch.
The chairs remain in excellent, stable condition, with minor wear on the original fabric consistent with age. The seat pads are firm, but in line with the original "flatter" style upholstery, and due to foam density loss over the years, but still good overall.
The Danish "Skovby" dining table featured in some of the photos, perfectly complimenting the dining table is sold separately here
