A fine example of mid-century Yugoslavian craftsmanship, this dining set was made by STOL Kamnik — a leading Slovenian furniture manufacturer active during the mid-20th century.
Known for its Scandinavian-influenced designs and collaborations with celebrated designer Niko Kralj, STOL Kamnik produced a wide range of export-quality furniture for homes across Europe. Their designs were admired for their clean lines, practical construction, and skilled use of beech wood, often paired with durable laminate tops for everyday use.
The extendable table features solid beech legs and a vibrant blue/turquoise Formica tabletop that remains fully intact, showing light signs of wear consistent with its age. Two loose Formica-covered extension leaves are neatly stored beneath the surface, ready to transform the table into a larger dining space when needed. The slightly elevated height makes it especially well-suited for kitchen dining. The original maker’s branding is present under the table, confirming its provenance.
The beech wood has been restored, sanded, and sealed, giving it a refreshed appearance and extending its lifespan for years to come.
Accompanying the table are four STOL Kamnik Model 4455 dining chairs, crafted from beech and originally made with patterned vinyl seats. This set has been re-upholstered in a white contemporary vinyl, offering a fresh, contemporary contrast to the honey-toned frames.
Petite in look & size, with a clean & narrower seat profile, the chairs are surprisingly sturdy and comfortable in use. Their minimalist lines, and gently curved backrests provide lasting comfort.
Makers Mark: STOL Kamnik – Yugoslavia (the final letter is an L stylised like a little chair). STOL Kamnik was a major Slovenian (then-Yugoslav) furniture maker active through the mid-20th century.
Underneath one of the chairs is a Nottingham, UK address label, suggesting the set was likely first used in the United Kingdom before finding its way to South Africa — adding an intriguing note to its provenance.

Condition:
Excellent restored condition, with original Formica top showing age-related signs of wear. Photos added.
