A stunning & extremely unusual Beechwood headboard, fit for a double bed mattress, with attached pedestals. Stripped back to the wood and resealed in a non-yellowing sealant with a section on the top of the pedestals painted in charcoal. The light fittings on the headboard have been rewired and they are now in working condition with new lamp holders. To bring this in line with some contemporary styles the bulbs are exposed (no shades).
We have added solid brass pins to three existing holes on each side of the headboard (we were not sure what those were for initially so opted for the brass pins to suit the brass fittings). The attached pedestal has two drawers each with gorgeous brass and wood handles. Two of the legs have brass capped feet, the other two we sprayed to match the look of the two fronts.
The cushioned section is upholstered in black velvet from Hertex Fabrics adding a touch of luxury. The backboard of the headboard is still very stable, but shows signs of it's vintage condition, but will not be noticeable once placed against a wall.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness the quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.

When purchasing an item and you are based in either Cape Town, Durban, or outside Gauteng, SELECT LOCAL PICK-UP at check-out (DO NOT SELECT A SHIPMENT OPTION). Delivery to these areas is quoted based on the dimensions of the item/s bought. We can unfortunately not reserve any items until such a time that transport or shipping has been finalized. The item should be purchased and checked out. After purchase, we will assist you with costs to these areas from our preferred supplier alternatively via your own method of transport.
