This Italian glass bowl, attributed to Rastelli, features a beautifully organic form defined by its substantial weight and softly rounded body. The black glass rim curves gently inward and is hollow, creating depth and contrast against the lighter transparent glass below.
The rim is intentionally undulating rather than perfectly level, alternating subtly in height and contour, which gives the piece a fluid, hand-formed quality and an almost sculptural presence. The result is a bowl that feels tactile and organic rather than rigid or symmetrical.
Rasteli is an Italian decorative design brand known for producing contemporary glass and interior objects from the late 20th century onwards, with a focus on form, colour, and accessible modern design rather than studio art glass. Their pieces are widely recognised for strong silhouettes and refined everyday functionality.
Attribution: The original maker’s mark is no longer present; however, the form, glass tone, and construction closely align with documented Rasteli examples. The bowl is in very good vintage condition, showing only minor surface wear consistent with age and careful use.
