A bold and beautifully restored vintage lounge chair, inspired by the iconic forms of 1960s–70s Italian space-age design. With its deep, cocoon-like seat upholstered in a rich textured forest-green fabric and a white fiberglass base, this piece blends comfort with sculptural impact, often referred to as a half-ball or bowl chair for its rounded, enveloping form.
A high-quality vintage piece, presumed to be a well-executed reproduction in the manner of iconic space-age design. While each chair makes a bold sculptural statement on its own, the pair together creates a truly striking presence.
The sculptural “ball” seat rests freely on its fiberglass base, allowing it to be angled and positioned to suit your comfort.
The chair echoes the aesthetics of Gruppo Industriale Busnelli’s “Girasole” model, the futuristic vision of Joe Colombo, and the soft organic lines of Pierre Paulin.
This time, we’ve opted for a more plush seating experience, echoing the original comfort intended in many of these early designs.
Condition: Fully restored. Newly upholstered with premium foam and fabric. Shell & base shows minor vintage wear consistent with its age.
With no original pattern to guide us, the upholstery was a challenging process — rebuilt layer by layer through careful trial and error, true to the spirit of restoration.
