Drawing inspiration from the renowned Ercol chairs, which had a long history of production in the UK, this refined rendition comes from “Lubis” furniture, crafted in SA during the 1960s. Combining traditional elements with modern sophistication, it adds a touch of elegance to any interior space.

The upholstery for the new seat cushion and new backrest scatter (filled with comferel that will still settle with use and can be re-puffed) have been done in a complimentary fabric from Hertex Fabrics enhancing its visual appeal and blending harmoniously. New webbing fitted.
The design is versatile, allowing you to easily add or switch out scatter cushions if the leaf pattern doesn't align with your overall aesthetic, allowing for a personalized touch while still receiving the original set as shown. The fabric used for the seat and scatter cushions comes from the same collection, ensuring a cohesive look both texturally and visually.
In the past, the spindle-back designs of both Ercol and Lubis chairs and couches were typically fully upholstered, which concealed much of the intricate spindle work. To modernize these classic pieces, we updated the original designs with new upholstery and scatter-style backrests. This approach not only refreshes the look but also ensures the beautiful spindle detailing remains a prominent feature, visible from every angle
The wood has been fully restored, stripped from it's dark stain to reveal the original solid oak, and resealed in a non-yellowing sealant.
These chairs are not only functional but also elegant statement pieces, perfect for any living space or curated collection.
