These armchairs aren’t just pieces of furniture; they’re statements of timeless elegance and quality craftsmanship.

This exquisite pair of armchairs is likely the iconic Lounge Chairs by Eric Merthen for IRE Möbler, although similar/same designs were also crafted by “Profilia Werke” in Ennigerloh, Germany. Previous records also include that some of these sets were manufactured under license (Eric Merthen), by Grafton Everest during the mid-1960s, though the information is extremely limited.

Note the exquisite design lines, sculptural details and bolster-style headrests. A testament to pioneering mid-century modern design with a Brazilian influence, these pieces boast flawless proportions. The solid teak frames exude strength and sophistication, while the plush upholstery on the seats, armrests, and backrests ensures unparalleled comfort and style.

Their quality and design speak for themselves, ensuring enduring appeal and worth. While the design could be attributed to either Eric Merthen, Profilia Werke, or manufactured under license, these armchairs remain highly valuable and sought after. Like many vintage pieces from the 1960s, the maker's marks are no longer intact, so we cannot definitively label them as one or the other.

These armchairs beautifully honor design icons while delivering a uniquely luxurious and comfortable seating experience, making them standout additions to any space.

The solid teak wood frames have been meticulously restored, refurbished, and refinished to highlight their natural beauty. The new upholstery, done in a rich black Hertex fabric, adds a touch of modern elegance and beautifully contrasts with the wood tone. Traditionally the armrests have studs that clip onto the armrest frames and cannot be removed, but to showcase the glorious wood on the armrests, we have added zipped armrest covers, to provide you with the option to remove them and showcase the wood.

We’ve also completely restored the bases, replacing the damaged straps and lining with durable webbing covered in traditionally-used materials, and then recovered the bases to ensure they match the upholstery perfectly.
