A beautiful Mid-Century dresser manufactured by Novocraft that can also be a desk when the mirror is removed. See photos for examples of both uses. Novocraft was a renowned local manufacturer in the 50's and 60's of high quality furniture pieces. This renowned SA manufacturer was responsible for great quality and Scandinavian style designed furniture. Not a piece we find often, but then we found more than one. Some experts say these were manufactured by DS Vorster and some by Novocraft, but both these designers were excellent furniture makers.
The Sapele Mahogany was restored and sealed and in excellent vintage condition. Note that when you do wish to use it as a desk, preferably ensure you have a height adjustable chair. Mirror in overall good condition, with age related marks and chip at the bottom right.
This piece comes with the mirror and the matching stool (excludes the rattan chair pictured in some photos).
As with mostly all mid-century pieces it is a good combination of solid wood & a high quality wood veneer. Quality old veneer was long-lasting and for this reason it can be retouched or sanded and refinished. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on workmanship, condition and thickness of the veneer itself.
