This exquisite modular lounge set, likely crafted by EE Meyer in South Africa during the 1960s, is designed in the manner of Danish master Ole Knudsen, embodying the clean lines and sophisticated craftsmanship characteristic of Mid-Century Scandinavian furniture. Made from solid Imbuia wood, it showcases both durability and elegance, setting it apart from its teak counterparts.
This rare set includes six chairs and a joining corner coffee table, making it a highly sought-after find. Beautiful from any angle, inclusive of the intricately designed back - which means it can be placed centred in a room.
The richly grained frames highlight expert craftsmanship, much like the Danish originals, featuring beautifully executed joinery. The chairs are upholstered in a luxurious, very light mint-green /duck-egg, Hertex fabric, extremely soft to the touch. While we have made every effort to capture the colour accurately, variations in lighting and screen resolution may result in slight discrepancies. The fabric has been professionally steam-cleaned, ensuring a fresh and refined appearance and in overall great condition.
With its versatile modular design, the set allows for multiple configurations, seamlessly adapting to various spaces—whether as a two, three, or four-seater sofa or individual lounge chairs. The sturdy frames remain in excellent condition, preserving their timeless appeal. The corner coffee table features a solid wood base, though the veneered top has some imperfections due to slight lifting of the board beneath. However, when styled and viewed from different angles, these are less noticeable.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness the quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
