A set of 4 Sapele Mahogany Mid-Century dining chairs by John Tabraham. He was the designer of choice for many premium South African furniture manufacturers during the 1950s and 60s. In the 1960s and 70s, Tabraham was most recognized for his work with furniture maker Kallenbach. His designs have an organic warmth that takes queues from the prevalent Danish modern style.

Stunning clean lines with ladderback detail and a slanted back for comfort. The wood has been restored and sealed and new yellow upholstery done. The chairs are in great vintage condition.

The chairs are sold as a set of four (calculated at R1800 per chair)

46.5cm x 48cm x 83.5h     seat height: 45cm

As with mostly all Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood AND a high-quality wood veneer. The quality, old veneer was long-lasting and for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the workmanship, condition and thickness of the veneer itself
