With its sculptural pedestal base, clean geometry, and characteristic Sapele tone, the table strongly reflects the work of John Tabraham during his Kallenbach period (c.1960s–early 1970s), and could also align with design cues seen in Novocraft pieces of the same era.
The oval top sits on a sculptural, cross-leg pedestal base, where the shaping of the legs and the central brace are carefully chamfered and faceted, a hallmark of thoughtful craftsmanship rather than factory standard production. The base has a grounded, architectural quality that provides stability while maintaining visual lightness.
The surface displays a gentle sheen, with a smooth hand-feel that reflects careful restoration. Light wear consistent with age may remain, preserving the character and authenticity of the piece.
The centered base offers unobstructed seating, as there are no outer legs getting in the way. A versatile and elegant dining table. This table seats 6 comfortably, and up to 8 due to the leg base being centered, depending on chair width and placement. equally at ease in contemporary interiors and paired alongside other South African, Scandinavian, or British mid-century pieces.
Condition:
Fully restored and beautifully finished, this table is ready to make a statement in its next space. Along the sides only very minor repair marks remain. Top in excellent restored condition.
