A rare and stylish "Virginia" Mid-Century occasional armchair with a footstool by the Guy Rogers Furniture company, manufactured in 1968-1970. Striking boomerang-style frame that rests on rectangular 'ski' style legs.

"Guy Rogers Furniture was well renowned for the high-quality chairs and sofas that it made, often named after aspirational locations in the U.S.A, Manhattan, Santa Fé, Frisco Bay, Beverley Hills, New York, or in this case, Virginia. Guy Rogers produced some of the UK's finest furniture during the mid-20th century. The company collaborated with leading designers to produce aspirational ranges, sold through premium retail stores like Heals of London".

Comfort is provided due to the slightly curved shape of the chair. The covered armrests provide cushioned support.

The footstool is sturdy and could also be used as a side table if the cushion is removed.

The solid afrormosia Teak frame has been restored and resealed and the emerald green velvet fabric is still in great original condition.

The webbing seems to have been redone over the years and is in good condition. In its current condition, the fabric & upholstery is still good and there is no need to re-upholster as yet unless you'd prefer something other than the green.

Armchair:  72,5cm W X 68,7cm D X 85cm H

Footstool:  60,8cm W X 50,2cm D X 37,4cm H

Note/Disclaimer:

Our images form part of the item/s description. Although all effort is made to refurbish our furniture to represent its original state best, it must be noted that most of the items we source date from the 1950s to the late 1970s. For this reason and although restored, signs of their vintage condition & age might still be visible. We will normally point out any visible/notable concerns. Take note of all photos or view the item in-store before purchasing.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness the quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
