A timeless Mid-Century, Sapele Mahogany sideboard made by DS Vorster & Co during the 1960s. This renowned SA manufacturer was responsible for some of the Blue Train interiors and renowned for classic, well crafted, Mid-Century furniture with clean lines. Ample storage space is provided in 2 cabinets with doors; one being a drop-fronted door. Two top drawers provide additional storage space. Note the solid brass original handles. 

The wood has been carefully stripped, sanded, restored, and sealed. Sapele top now in excellent condition (previously, very poorly restored). All locks are by B&R, which were made in England. New keys cut.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness the quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.

Shipment outside Gauteng is not calculated at check-out. When purchasing an item and you are based in either Cape Town, Durban, or outside Gauteng, select 'LOCAL PICK-UP' at check-out (DO NOT SELECT A SHIPMENT OPTION). Delivery to these areas is quoted based on the dimensions of the item/s bought.

We can unfortunately not reserve any items until such a time that transport or shipping has been finalized. The item should be purchased and checked out.
