A masterpiece of timeless design. A fantastic Mid-century Afrormosia framed couch that effortlessly combines classic elegance with contemporary flair. This couch was crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail. It simply exudes an air of luxury and refinement. 

The couch features a sturdy frame crafted from solid Afrormosia / Teak, renowned for its stunning woodgrain, adding to its aesthetic appeal.

The seat and slightly slanted backrest are designed for ultimate comfort. The meticulously crafted dipped armrests, seamlessly merge with the rest of the frame, showcasing unparalleled craftsmanship. The frame continues around the back of the couch, making this piece attractive from any angle.

The wooden frame exudes a sense of lasting beauty and has been fully restored and sealed in Rubio Monocoat. The upholstery has been replaced and the fabric choice is a striking Black & White Houndstooth fabric from Hertex Fabrics.

The couch holds a remarkable backstory relating to its provenance, which enhances its appeal. Given the predominant style and craftsmanship, it is highly likely of Danish origin. Its journey adds an intriguing dimension: originally owned by individuals residing in the Netherlands, it was brought to South Africa during their relocation in the 1970s. Interestingly, many other items obtained from the same owners also hail from Denmark, underscoring the strong Danish influence in their collection. Thus, while its temporary stay in the Netherlands adds a unique twist to its history, the inherent Danish origins shine through, promising a blend of timeless design and aesthetic appeal.

The maker's mark is unfortunately no longer intact and while this couch could have been crafted in Denmark due to its provenance, the possibility that it was created by renowned artisans in the Netherlands cannot be overlooked. Both Danish and Dutch mid-century furniture are highly coveted in today's market, adding to their allure and value.
