A stunning Mid-Century Greaves & Thomas cocktail cabinet/bureau. Extremely versatile all in one cabinet with vintage flair updated with color to add interest.
Greaves & Thomas was a London-based company with a history dating back to the early 1900s until 1967. They hired trained designers during the Mid-Century period to create contemporary furniture with Danish influences.
The cabinet has 3 doors that flip open with the top left one being a drink serving part with glass shelving. Extra liquor and glasses can be stored in the bottom, shelved flip-open cabinet. The top righthand part serves as a writing bureau with space for a laptop or books, a drawer for stationery and dividers. More storage space is provided in 3 drawers on the bottom left.
Some fronts, sides and top are painted in charcoal chalk "spray", 2 drawers are painted yellow and the rest in the original wood with it's original brass handles and key.
The cabinet has been restored and is in great condition.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The quality, old veneer was long-lasting and for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the workmanship, condition, and thickness of the veneer itself.
