An impressive bar crafted in Kiaat, with substantial proportions and a commanding presence.
What truly sets this piece apart is the exceptional natural grain of the Kiaat, particularly across the generous solid Kiaat countertop, where the rich colour variations and flowing grain patterns create a remarkable visual feature.
The design is an intriguing combination of flowing curves and angular lines. The beautifully shaped bar front, with its vertically ribbed Kiaat detailing, follows a gentle curve that contrasts with the more angular form of the base and its distinctive leg structure. Together, these elements give the bar a sculptural quality and a strong sense of character.
A solid Kiaat footrest extends around the front and one side of the bar, allowing for seating along both sections. This thoughtful design makes the bar exceptionally versatile, lending itself to various room layouts and seating configurations, whether positioned against a wall, in a corner or as a freestanding feature.
Equally impressive is its practicality. The generous countertop provides ample space for preparing and serving drinks, while the rear offers substantial storage. A sliding wooden door conceals shelving for bottles, glassware, and bar essentials, complemented by additional open shelves for easy access.
Note: The two Italian Lucite chairs featured in some of the photos are not part of the bar, but can be purchased separately here.

Note: As with many Mid-Century pieces, this item features a thoughtful combination of solid wood and high-quality wood veneer. Veneer has a long and respected tradition in furniture making, valued for both its aesthetic and structural benefits. When crafted with skill and applied in substantial thickness, vintage veneer proves highly durable, allowing for careful restoration, including retouching, sanding, and refinishing without compromising the integrity of the piece.
