A Mid-Century headboard for a queen bed with beautiful Sapele mahogany solid wood carved-detail headrest section & two veneered pedestals. This piece was manufactured by the renowned South African, DS Vorster during the '60s. The pedestals are attached to the headboard.
New brushed handles have been added to the drawers.
The wood has been fully refurbished and restored and it is in overall good vintage condition with some wear visible on the pedestals only consistent with age and use.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. Quality old veneer was long-lasting and for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the workmanship, condition and thickness of the veneer itself.
