Lucky Sibiya, born in 1942 in Vryheid, Natal, initiated his artistic journey by intricately carving ornamental designs onto gourds, which were employed as bases for lampshades. Under the mentorship of Cecil Skotnes and Bill Ainslie, he honed his craft. In 1974, he embarked on a journey to the United States, Paris, and London to further explore his artistic horizons.
