An iconic KD28 table lamp, designed by celebrated Italian designer Joe Colombo for Kartell in circa 1967. A quintessential example of Italian Space Age design, the lamp captures Colombo’s fascination with futuristic forms, new materials, and the possibilities offered by moulded plastic. If you have more than one, they are stackable too.
The design is immediately recognisable for its compact cylindrical body and distinctive dual shell diffuser, appearing almost suspended within the open support structure. When illuminated, the rounded diffuser creates a soft, atmospheric glow, while the sculptural form makes the lamp equally appealing switched off.
Manufactured in moulded plastic bases and diffuser domes, the KD28 was produced in a range of solid colours characteristic of the period, including white, black, orange and red, with less frequently encountered shades also appearing. This example is finished in a warm cream tone, giving the futuristic design a softer, more neutral presence that works particularly well in contemporary interiors.
Compact, sculptural and unmistakably 1960s, the KD28 has become a sought-after piece of Italian Space Age lighting, combining Joe Colombo’s forward-thinking approach to design with Kartell’s pioneering use of plastics.

Note/Disclaimer:
Our images form part of the item description. While we make every effort to restore our furniture to its original state, most pieces date from the 1950s to the late 1970s. As a result, and despite restoration, signs of their vintage nature and previous life may still be visible. Light traces of restoration may remain visible, consistent with authentic vintage furniture. In some cases, minor adjustments may also have been made during the restoration process to ensure the piece remains functional and usable. We will point out any notable aspects where possible. We encourage in-store viewing or careful review of photographs before purchase.
