This elegant pair of solid brass fire dogs features a refined yet robust design, with turned baluster supports and smooth orb finials linked by a central horizontal bar. The warm golden tones of the brass, combined with their weighty construction, make them both decorative and functional.

The clean, symmetrical lines are typical of 19th- to early 20th-century English and Continental revival styles, designed to add sophistication to any hearth setting.

Historical Context: Fire dogs, also known as andirons, have been in use since medieval times. Originally forged in wrought iron, they served a practical role in open fireplaces: elevating logs for improved air circulation and more efficient burning.

Condition:

These examples show gentle age-related patina consistent with vintage brass, adding character without compromising structural integrity.
