Designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli in the late 1960s to 1970s, the DSC 106 is an enduring icon of Italian modernism. This particular piece has been thoughtfully reupholstered in a striking rust-orange Hertex fabric that adds a bold, contemporary contrast while respecting the chair’s original design language.
The frame, crafted from aluminium and steel, remains true to Piretti’s vision of refined functionality, allowing the chair to be easily stacked (see photographs). It retains its original leg sleeve covers, showing light wear consistent with age, adding a layer of authentic vintage character. The maker’s mark is intact, affirming its provenance.
Celebrated in design museums around the world, the DSC 106 is one of Castelli’s most iconic models. Comfortable and versatile, it’s ideal for a home office or study — a sophisticated piece that complements a range of interiors with ease.
