A distinctive 1950s-style armchair, almost in the manner of Dutch designer Paul Schuitema’s tubular steel seating. We believe this to be a locally produced piece rather than an original Fana example.
The sculptural chromed frame sweeps continuously around the chair, forming both the sled-style base and wraparound support for the curved upholstered backrest. Solid beechwood armrests sit neatly along the elongated frame, adding warmth against the chrome.
New foam has been fitted, and the seat and backrest have been newly upholstered in a richly textured neutral and black fabric from Hertex. Unmistakably 1950s in influence, its strong lines translate particularly well into a contemporary interior.
A great occasional armchair, or an interesting visitor’s chair positioned opposite a desk. Buy both and create a visually appealing office with visitor chairs.
Condition:
The chrome presents well overall, with some age-related spotting visible here and there. New hardware has been fitted to the backrest to ensure it is securely fastened. The oak armrests have also been restored, while the foam and upholstery are entirely new.
