A stunning Mid-Century, Sapele Mahogany curved bar with three barstools, most probably manufactured by DS Vorster (John Tabraham design for DS Vorster). This immaculate bar unit has stunning wooden detail around the curve of the bar and a copper footrest that makes it a stand-out piece. Ample storage is provided in a cabinet with a door and two open curved shelves.
The three wooden bar chairs have been restored and sealed and new upholstery added to the seats in blue/charcoal Hertex fabric.
The wood on the bar has been stripped, restored and refinished and the unit is in excellent vintage condition.

As with mostly all Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The quality, old veneer was long-lasting and for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the workmanship, condition and thickness of the veneer itself.
