Highly collectible black porcelain teapot and cover, part of the 'Tea for Two' collection designed by Tapio Wirkkala and manufactured by Rosenthal AG in Germany in 1963. This elegant piece is accompanied by a tea warmer from Japan as a bonus, which is super useful within the functional context of tea service. This item is in overall very good condition with slight marks on the handle consistent with its vintage age and use. Rosewood and silver-plated handle, the design year 1963, was in production until 1975. Signed Tapio Wirkkala.
"The collaboration between Rosenthal and Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala in the late 1950s, under the Studio-Line initiative, led to several notable designs. Initiated by the introduction of Raymond Loewy, Wirkkala developed eight new services for Rosenthal, including the "Tea for Two" service, featuring this teapot produced between 1963 and 1975. The partnership reflects a dynamic intersection of design minds, resulting in timeless and innovative pieces for large-scale production".
