Crafted in solid Kiaat, it combines a substantial Kiaat-framed king-size base with an upholstered, Kiaat-framed headrest and elongated tiered pedestals, each with a drawer and built-in upright storage for books and magazines.
The scale, rich Kiaat grain and integrated design make this a standout piece of South African furniture from the era. Fully restored, stripped, sanded and resealed, with new foam and upholstery to the padded headrest.

The headboard combines solid Kiaat with an upholstered padded centre panel in charcoal fabric, providing comfortable support when sitting up in bed. The bed includes the original steel king-size bed base, framed in solid Kiaat and finished with a matching Kiaat bed end, creating a cohesive and impressive overall design.
The pedestals are designed to attach directly to the headboard using the built-in fittings, but can also be detached and positioned further apart if additional width is required.
