An eye-catching piece of cabinetry. This gorgeous sideboard features two stunning walnut symmetrical shelved cabinets on either side of the cabinet with four center drawers (one is almost a hidden drawer). Attractive splayed legs that add a bit of art deco flare as well as the curved edges on the doors.
"Beautility Furniture was a British furniture company that was in business for nearly 100 years from the 1890s. It specialised in contemporary wooden dining suites and sideboards. Many pieces of Beautility furniture survive in styles ranging from art deco to the straight lines of the 1960s and 1970s.
The company had a showroom in Oxford Street, London, in the late 1950s. Its products were also sold through furniture shops such as Waring & Gillow. The Beautility brand name was acquired in the 1990s by the Morris Furniture Group of Glasgow, the UK’s largest independent cabinet furniture maker, which dates from 1904".
The wood has been stripped of its old varnish and stain, restored and resealed. The old handles were replaced with new brushed brass-finished handles echoing the shape of this art deco cabinet.
The sideboard is in great restored condition, with a mark here and there, however consistent with age and use.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The quality, of the old veneer, was long-lasting and for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's workmanship, condition, and thickness.
