Originally manufactured in 1958, this iconic chair is still being produced by Frits Hansen. These are licensed original Swan chairs, newly upholstered, manufactured in 2005, and are both marked with a label. Two chairs are available and sold separately.
History: Arne Jacobsen designed the "Swan" and the "Egg" in 1958 for the SAS Royal Hotel lounge area in Copenhagen. According to legend, the designer was inspired by nature, especially by the city's many magnificent swans. Thus, the armrests and the backrest resemble the body shape of the majestic birds. Arne Jacobsen built the original Swan Chair in the garage at his house in Klampenborg, Denmark. This highly acclaimed chair has been in production with Fritz Hansen ever since, a true design classic.
Despite its straightforward and compelling architectural style, the design of the chair features an organic and soft appearance.
This chair underwent re-upholstery due to the original white leather being damaged and torn and no longer functional in its original state. It now features black textured fabric and the chrome bases have been cleaned. The chairs are in good condition, evidenced by the presence of a 'Republic of Fritz Hansen' sticker at the bottom. The feet pads are still intact with some minor wear consistent with age and use.
These chairs sell today for more than R70 000 per chair. You will not be paying that :). Re-upholstering entails a marginal market share concession.
PLEASE NOTE: We have two chairs available, however, they are being sold separately (Priced each)
