This exquisite Art Deco serving cart from the 1930s by Thonet, showcases the era’s signature blend of luxury and functionality. Designed with a floating effect, the cart is elegantly framed in rich walnut veneer, as they did, exuding warmth and sophistication. Surrounded by glass, this cart exudes luxury and a refined aesthetic.

A single inner glass shelf provides space for display resting on its original brass supports, while sliding glass doors on both sides ensure effortless access from the back and front. The cart is resting on its original castors. The original handle, now in black for a more contemporary feel, adds to the refined aesthetic.

Professionally repaired & restored, this timeless piece bears the maker’s marks of Thonet on its base, a testament to its craftsmanship and authenticity. Whether used for serving drinks or as a statement accent, this Art Deco cart is a perfect blend of elegance and utility. Makers mark visible - embossed in wood and part paper label.

We needed to do extensive repairs to this piece of history to preserve its authenticity, and for this reason, and though in overall good condition, some minor repair marks are visible here and there, but not distracting from the piece. The glass doors have some minor edge grazing.

87.5cm W (with handle), 80cm W (cart only) X 45cm D X 62.5cm H.

Note/Disclaimer:

Our images form part of the item's description. Although all efforts have been made to refurbish our furniture to best represent its original state, it must be noted that most of the items we source date from the 1950s to the late 1970s. For this reason, although restored, signs of their vintage condition and age might still be visible. We will typically point out any visible/notable concerns. Take note of all photos or view the item in-store prior to purchasing.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness the quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
