This exquisite Swedish mid-century modern storage cabinet is a true statement piece, showcasing the timeless elegance and craftsmanship of Scandinavian design. Designed in the manner of J.O. Carlssons & Carl Axel Acking, and dating back to the early 1960’s, this cabinet beautifully combines functionality with refined aesthetics, making it a striking addition to any interior.
Expertly crafted from golden elm and teak, the cabinet boasts a warm, rich wood grain that enhances its sophisticated appeal. The upper section features three spacious storage shelves, providing ample space for displaying books, decorative objects, or fine dinnerware. The lower portion is thoughtfully designed for additional organisation - on the left side, a single interior shelf offers versatile storage, while the right side houses three height-adjustable drawers, ideal for keeping smaller items neatly arranged.
The most distinctive elements of this piece is its unique leg design, which adds a sculptural quality to its overall silhouette and the bottom doors that are adorned with elegant vertical slats, a hallmark of fine mid-century Scandinavian furniture. This subtle yet striking detail elevates the cabinet’s visual interest while maintaining its clean, minimalist lines. The doors are hinged by unique solid brass hardware.
The cabinet retains its original locking key, ensuring both security and authenticity. While the maker’s label is no longer visible, the design and construction are strongly attributed to renowned Swedish designers.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition, with only minor signs of wear consistent with age. The surface has been well maintained, preserving the natural beauty of the wood while allowing its character to shine through.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness the quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
