This beautifully restored sideboard is an exceptional example of British mid-century modern design, possibly attributed to Greaves & Thomas, a firm renowned for their sophisticated craftsmanship and elegant simplicity during the 1960s. The piece features clean architectural lines, a warm, lustrous finish, and a distinctive boxed stretcher base that gives it an elevated, almost floating presence.
The sideboard’s layout is both balanced and functional: on the left, three wide drawers provide generous storage, with the top drawer fitted for cutlery organization, while the two below offer plain, deep storage space. Each drawer retains its original set of double handles, preserving the cabinet's iconic mid-century form.
To the right, a pair of hinged cabinet doors open to reveal internal shelving, perfect for larger items or use as a drinks cabinet. The handle-free design of the cabinet doors is typical of Greaves & Thomas' custom cabinetry series, and they open via discreet internal levers. All locks are original and remain fully functional, complete with matching keys.
The hinged cabinet doors align with several of the early to mid-1960s models, particularly within the “Quadrille” and custom collections. The understated hardware, elegant proportions, and refined details reflect a distinctive design language.
Whether placed in a dining room, living space, or entryway, this sideboard serves as both a functional storage piece and a sophisticated statement of timeless mid-century design.

Take note of all photos or view the item in-store prior to purchasing.
As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness. The quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded, and refinished.
