A beautifully crafted media cabinet in Kiaat, showcasing the warm grain, depth and natural movement. Compact yet full of presence, the piece offers three open compartments ideal for books, vinyl, media, or curated display objects.
The design is defined by clean, geometric lines and an elevated footed base that introduces a subtle architectural lift. The stepped leg structure: a horizontal platform resting on short block feet, is strongly reminiscent of the refined proportions and functional simplicity associated with John Tabraham’s work for Kallenbach. While its exact authorship remains unconfirmed, the craftsmanship and silhouette speak to that lineage.
Freshly restored, the wood has been fully restored, nourished and sealed to highlight its rich colour and enhance its natural sheen, while still retaining the gentle character expected of a vintage piece.
Some compartments are fitted with horizontal stoppers, likely designed to prevent records from being pushed all the way to the back. Perfect as a small media centre, entryway console, bedside piece, or living room display shelf, this cabinet brings warm mid-century clarity and timeless South African design sensibility into any space.

Note/Disclaimer:
Our images form part of the item/s description. Although every effort is made to refurbish our furniture to represent its original state best, it must be noted that most of the items we source date from the 1950s to the late 1970s. For this reason, and although restored, signs of their vintage condition & age might still be visible. We will normally point out any visible/notable concerns. As with many Mid-Century pieces, this item features a thoughtful combination of solid wood and high-quality wood veneer. Veneer has a long and respected tradition in furniture making, valued for both its aesthetic and structural benefits. When crafted with skill and applied in substantial thickness, vintage veneer proves highly durable, allowing for careful restoration, including retouching, sanding, and refinishing without compromising the integrity of the piece.
