This highly sought-after piece showcases Kjaer’s refined architectural approach, expressed through clean lines, elegant proportions, and an unmistakable modernist presence.

Three sliding doors glide open to reveal a beautifully contrasted interior, with adjustable shelving behind the central door. Every surface has been considered, including the back, which is finished to the same high standard as the front. This allows the sideboard to stand freely in a room as a floating sculptural element or functional room divider.

Distinctive square steel pulls and the original polished chromed steel legs anchor the piece with a quietly confident modernist flair.

The highly sought-after Brazilian Rosewood veneer has been sensitively restored to bring out the depth and movement of the grain, resulting in a warm and sophisticated finish. The sideboard was originally produced with locks, but it arrived to us without them. The original keyhole covers remain in place, and the doors have been expertly adapted to slide open and close with ease.

Internationally, these pieces seldom sell below $6 000 and more commonly reach between $7 000 and $10 000, reflecting their rarity, craftsmanship, and enduring demand. However, prices at this level are not always achievable in the South African market, and we have adjusted our pricing accordingly.

A statement acquisition for collectors and lovers of serious Danish design.

Condition:

Overall condition is excellent and the piece makes a strong visual statement. There are a few minor, well-executed, subtle repair marks and subtle age-related signs consistent with the piece’s history, but these are minimal and not immediately noticeable. The timber presents beautifully throughout.

Dimensions:

184cm W X 44cm D X 61.5cm H

Note/Disclaimer:

Our images form part of the item/s description. Although every effort is made to refurbish our furniture to represent its original state best, it must be noted that most of the items we source date from the 1950s to the late 1970s. For this reason, and although restored, signs of their vintage condition & age might still be visible. We will normally point out any visible/notable concerns. Take note of all photos or view the item in-store prior to purchasing.

Transport & Handling Note:
All items are carefully wrapped and prepared for transport by us (not the courier) to ensure safe handling. Once items leave our premises, we cannot take responsibility for their treatment by third-party transporters. We strongly recommend arranging goods-in-transit insurance for comprehensive protection.

Due to the fragility of glass, we do not recommend shipping glass items outside of Gauteng.

As with many Mid-Century pieces, this item features a thoughtful combination of solid wood and high-quality wood veneer. Veneer has a long and respected tradition in furniture making, valued for both its aesthetic and structural benefits. When crafted with skill and applied in substantial thickness, vintage veneer proves highly durable, allowing for careful restoration, including retouching, sanding, and refinishing without compromising the integrity of the piece.
