A beautifully proportioned two-bay modular wall unit from "PS System", Denmark – a highly regarded manufacturer known for its refined Scandinavian modern storage systems designed for flexible living. The unit is fully wall-mounted, with uprights that allow each component to be positioned and rearranged to suit changing needs over time.
"Pieces were designed to be reconfigured rather than replaced — an early, elegant approach to sustainable living".
Crafted in a combination of Teak and Red Oak, the system has a warm, cohesive presence, with finely detailed grain, rounded handle recesses, and softly profiled edges typical of mid-century Danish cabinetry.
The layout shown here features three shelves & four cabinets: 1, a library of drawers, 2, a lockable drop-front cabinet that works beautifully as a bar or concealed storage, 3, a sliding-door storage cabinet, and 4, a narrower shelved cabinet with glass sliding doors.
Though the options are yours on how to configure the unit, we have as per the pictures, configured it to feature a "desk" space too (one shelf is slightly deeper). There is also one additional shelf included (not pictured), which can be added in place of or in combination with the desk section, depending on the desired configuration.
True to the ethos of Scandinavian modular design, this is a system that adapts with life — from living room to study to dining space. The proportions remain visually light while offering generous storage and practical work/display surfaces.
PS System (sometimes labeled “ps system – Danish Furniture, Randers”) was part of the wave of modular wall-mounted furniture brands emerging in Denmark during the late 1950s and 1960s. In the same design lineage as Poul Cadovius’ Royal System and Kai Kristiansen’s FM shelves, PS units are known for their precision joinery, adjustable shelf standards, and functional cabinetry modules.
A timeless and highly collectable example of Danish modern modular furniture, offering beauty, practicality, and enduring craftsmanship.
Comparable original PS System configurations retail internationally between €2,600 and €4,800, excluding shipping and import duties.
This example is complete, in excellent condition, and ready to install, a rare offering in South Africa.

As with many Mid-Century pieces, this item features a thoughtful combination of solid wood and high-quality wood veneer. Veneer has a long and respected tradition in furniture making, valued for both its aesthetic and structural benefits. When crafted with skill and applied in substantial thickness, vintage veneer proves highly durable, allowing for careful restoration, including retouching, sanding, and refinishing without compromising the integrity of the piece.
