A rare & gorgeous Regency style vintage sideboard with a black lacquered 'French polish' finish and amazing brass and ormolu detailing. Ample storage is provided in 2 deep drawers and 2 cabinets with doors on each side.
The pieces from this period normally exhibited plain lines and surfaces with slender legs to provide a simplistic background for the ornamental detailing with mostly Eastern, Greek and Egyptian cultural influences to the patterns and finishes.
The light wood finish on the inside provides a great contrast with the dark exterior. A beautiful statement piece in original condition. The overall condition of the piece is good with its original aged patina, which is almost a 'must' with pieces like these. Age-related imperfections are visible also as shown in the photos like veneer aging, surface scratches etc. Available to view in-store.

As with mostly all Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood AND a high-quality wood veneer. The quality, old veneer was long-lasting and for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the workmanship, condition and thickness of the veneer itself
