Drawing inspiration from the renowned Ercol chairs, which had a long history of production in the UK, this refined rendition comes from “Lubis” furniture, crafted in SA during the 1960s. Combining traditional elements with modern sophistication, it adds a touch of elegance to any interior space.
Lubis Furniture was renowned for its meticulous attention to detail, and this vintage chair is a testament to good craftsmanship.
The upholstery for the new seat cushion and new backrest fitted cushion have been done in a complimentary dusty pink and off-white textured fabric, both from Hertex- enhancing its visual appeal and blending harmoniously.
In the past, the spindle-back designs of both Ercol and Lubis chairs were typically fully upholstered, which concealed much of the intricate spindlework. To modernise, we updated the original design with a new seat and a hanging backrest support. This approach not only refreshes the look but also ensures the beautiful spindle detailing remains a prominent feature, visible from every angle.
The wood has been fully restored, stripped from it's dark stain to reveal the original solid oak, and resealed in a non-yellowing sealant.
