A stunning Mid-Century 'Kroken' Chair & matching footstool. It was initially designed by Ake Fribytter. Designed in the 70s, these chairs kept their popularity and still are an excellent piece to have. The Kroken lounge chair, produced initially from the Swedish manufacturer Nelo Mobel, combines extraordinary design with excellent seating comfort and top materials. Ultimate seating comfort is provided with a cantilever bentwood frame. The earthy tone of the upholstery was very typical of the 70's.
The price is for the chair inclusive of the footstool.
The cantilever frame design not only enhances the chair's aesthetics, but also provides excellent seating comfort by allowing for slight movement and flexibility. The outer lining (underneath the new fabric) was kept as found as it was still in excellent condition. New leather strings were used to fasten the seat and footrest seat.
The frame has been lightly refurbished and sealed. New upholstery has been done in a lightly patterned, soft green Hertex fabric. The chair is in great overall condition for its age, with some very minimal wear on the frame treasured by some.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness. The quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
