This beautifully crafted Mid-Century dining table, made by renowned local furniture maker DS Vorster & Co during the mid-1960s, showcases timeless design and exceptional craftsmanship. Constructed from Sapele Mahogany, the table features gently curved, beveled edges that lend a sleek, streamlined profile. It stands on a sturdy wooden leg base with a distinctive double-beam center support, offering stability and style.

DS Vorster was known for producing high-quality Mid-Century pieces, often influenced by acclaimed designer John Tabraham.

When closed, the table comfortably seats six and can extend to accommodate 8–10 guests, depending on chair size. The extension leaf folds neatly beneath the tabletop, making it easy to use while preserving the table's clean lines.

Fully restored with care - stripped, sanded, and sealed - the wood has been brought back to its original beauty, and the table is in overall great restored condition with a few marks visible in line with age and wear.

Larger, Mid-Century dining tables with extendable sections, like this, are increasingly rare, making it not just a stunning piece for your home, but also a smart investment.

Note: The set of 6 Frystark Dining chairs paired with the table in one of the reference pictures, is sold seperately here

Extended:  242.5cm W X 87.5cm D X 76cm H, 70.5cm H (bottom of table top)

Closed:  181cm W.

Note/Disclaimer:

Our images form part of the item/s description. Although every effort is made to refurbish our furniture to represent its original state best, it must be noted that most of the items we source date from the 1950s to the late 1970s. For this reason, and although restored, signs of their vintage condition & age might still be visible. We will normally point out any visible/notable concerns. Take note of all photos or view the item in-store prior to purchasing.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness the quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
