This stunning 1960's Mid-Century dining set, most probably by DS Vorster, consists of an elegant sharper oval-style shape, extendable with 6 matching chairs perfectly curving with the table.
Extendable, making it perfect for larger dishes on the table for gatherings or family meals. The chairs feature cushioned seats and backrests, providing superior comfort and support for extended seating.

The wood has been restored and sealed while upholstery has been done in a green velvet, Hertex fabric. Note that whilst this set has been fully restored with much care, some wear is still visible here and there consistent with age, and one slightly darker mark where we needed to focus on a deeper repair. After restoration, the chairs are basically "new". We have for this reason priced this table much lower than what it would usually sell for. For information purposes, this 2.5m table (when extended), works out to a mere R7000, and the chairs at R2383 each, fully restored and re-upholstered in Hertex Fabrics and new foam.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness. The quality of the veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
