A vintage oak writing bureau. Perfect as a home office as it provides great storage and can be used as a desk. Close-up when not in use or it can be used as a storage cabinet. The bureau has a cleverly designed drop-fronted door that extends and compartments behind the door (see video). The bottom two doors reveal additional storage. The cabinet is weighted at the bottom with a heavy steel bar to ensure stability when in use. The bureau has keys.
We have stripped this cabinet back to its original wood and opted to seal this with a lighter color of Jax Oleum oil to give this a fresh refinished & contemporary look. The inside of the bottom drawers has been repainted with the inside casing left in the original oak finish for durability but refurbished and sealed.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness The quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.

Shipment outside Gauteng is not calculated at check-out. When purchasing an item and you are based in either Cape Town, Durban, or outside Gauteng, SELECT LOCAL PICK-UP at check-out (DO NOT SELECT A SHIPMENT OPTION). Delivery to these areas is quoted based on the dimensions of the item/s bought. We can unfortunately not reserve any items until such a time that transport or shipping has been finalized. The item should be purchased and checked out. After purchase, we will assist you with costs to these areas from our preferred supplier alternatively via your own method of transport.
