A chair when you need a seat, a stepladder when you need a little extra height!
A clever piece of furniture that combines everyday practicality with a great, clean design.
Crafted from solid beech wood with a woven rattan seat, this convertible chair transforms into a four-step ladder with a simple folding movement. The light wood, straight lines, and neatly integrated steps give it an attractive, uncluttered appearance, whether used as a chair or a ladder. Use as a desk chair, dresser chair, or just an occasional seat waiting to be used.
The concept dates back to 18th-century Europe, when convertible chairs were particularly useful in libraries and homes with tall bookshelves. Still just as relevant today, this is a wonderfully useful space-saving piece, especially for reaching those higher kitchen cupboards, bookshelves, or storage areas.
Condition:
This chair is in very good restored condition, with a sturdy construction and sound structural integrity, and non-skid foot pads, ensuring stability in both its seating and stepladder functions. The rattan is still intact with no damage.

Note/Disclaimer:
Our images form part of the item description. While we make every effort to restore our furniture to its original state, most pieces date from the 1950s to the late 1970s. As a result, and despite restoration, signs of their vintage nature and previous life may still be visible. Light traces of restoration may remain visible, consistent with authentic vintage furniture. In some cases, minor adjustments may also have been made during the restoration process to ensure the piece remains functional and usable. We will point out any notable aspects where possible. We encourage in-store viewing or careful review of photographs before purchase.
Transport & Handling Note:
All items are carefully wrapped and prepared for transport by us (not the courier) to ensure safe handling. Once items leave our premises, we cannot take responsibility for their treatment by third-party transporters. We strongly recommend arranging goods-in-transit insurance for comprehensive protection.
Due to the fragility of glass, we do not recommend shipping glass items outside of Gauteng.
