From a rather ordinary wooden cabinet with little character to a completely reimagined and versatile piece of furniture!
We saw potential in the original structure of this cabinet and decided to give it an entirely new identity. Rather than simply restoring it, we set out to transform it into something fresh, functional, and full of personality, with the versatility to serve several purposes around the home.
We retained and refinished the solid pine top, bringing warmth and natural character to the design. The combination of lighter timbers creates a relaxed, contemporary look, while the original wooden handles have been finished in black for a more modern contrast.
One of our favourite additions is the textured adhesive fibre paper applied to the back of the cabinet. Up close, it has an almost authentic fabric feel, while from a distance, its fine woven texture resembles natural rattan. Framed by new timber trim, this detail completely transforms the appearance of the back, making the cabinet equally attractive from every angle.
We also fitted new castor wheels, allowing the cabinet to move easily between spaces. This opens up a whole new range of possibilities. Use it as a mobile kitchen island, an additional preparation or serving surface, a covered patio island for entertaining, or simply as a freestanding storage cabinet.
Two drawers and a spacious double-door cupboard with an adjustable shelf provide generous storage for crockery, kitchenware, serving accessories or everyday essentials.
The result is a complete transformation, giving an otherwise forgotten cabinet a fresh purpose and a whole new personality. A practical, adaptable piece that can take centre stage rather than being tucked away against a wall.
Condition:
Completely refurbished and reimagined, with refinished timber, updated black handles, a new decorative back panel and newly fitted castor wheels. Light characteristics of the original timber remain, adding to its individual appeal. Minor marks here and there consistent with it's vintage age and use. The cabinet inside has minor wear, which we have addressed to avoid further damage, but overall in good condition.
