A striking campaign-style cabinet, distinguished by its richly figured burl wood finish, bifold-style doors at the top and bottom, warm timber tones, and solid brass corner fittings and solid brass recessed pulls.
The combination of the dramatic wood grain and traditional campaign furniture detailing gives this piece a distinctive character, blending classic influences with the bold styling of the Postmodern era.
Originally designed as a television cabinet, this piece has been thoughtfully repurposed as an elegant drinks cabinet. Its original bifold doors lend themselves particularly well to its new function, allowing for easy access while preserving the cabinet’s distinctive design character.
The upper section has been transformed into an inviting bar area, with new mirrored backing and a glass shelf that reflects light and beautifully displays glassware, decanters and a favourite drinks collection. The lower mirrored section offers additional storage with three adjustable wooden shelves for bar accessories, books or other essentials.
The four doors retain their original solid brass recessed pulls, complemented by brass corner protectors and detailing throughout. When closed, the cabinet presents a striking display of continuous burl grain, while opening the doors reveals a practical and stylish interior.
The clever bi-fold door design allows each door to open in two sections, folding neatly back against the sides of the cabinet for easy access to the interior without taking up unnecessary space.
Condition:
Fully restored, stripped, sanded, and resealed. New board added with a mirrored back on the top section, and a glass shelf added. Bottom cabinet, cable opening closed, and new mirror fitted. Overall, in very good restored & repurposed condition.
The back of the cabinet has a less refined finish, as additional structural materials were incorporated to ensure the mirrors are securely supported. These areas have been tidied and finished where possible, with stability and functionality taking priority. As the cabinet is designed to be positioned against a wall, the back will remain concealed and does not need to be exposed.
