A freestanding modular shelving system with slim, steel legs and floating timber cabinetry, designed in the spirit of Scandinavian mid-century modernism. It allows you the freedom to arrange the cabinets to your needs. (We have a two-bay also available - see the link below).

This well-balanced three-bay modular unit is arranged across four upright sections, offering both visual rhythm and practical versatility. Its thoughtful composition combines workspace, storage, and display, making it suitable for a range of interiors and uses.

Configuration Overview

The modular unit consists of the following components, arranged across four upright sections and designed to be reconfigured if desired:

  • 1 angled desk surface with a raised front lip for secure working and display (you can have this non-angled, should you not wish to use it as a desk, but a shelf for example.
  • 3 Two-door cabinets with hinged doors, offering generous concealed storage
  • 1 smaller cabinet with sliding doors and a glass shelf, adding visual variation and a lighter proportion
  • 1 drop-down unit, ideal for use as a drinks or bar cabinet
  • 1 storage unit featuring four drawers and a side cabinet with a hinged door, well-suited to organised storage for documents, accessories or personal items
  • 2 open shelves, positioned at the top of the outer bays, perfect for books, ceramics, or curated display pieces

This considered mix of open and closed elements allows the system to function equally well as a workspace, storage solution, or display unit, while its modular nature offers flexibility for personalisation and future rearrangement.

One of the cabinets includes a circular opening at the back, likely intended for cable management, allowing discreet routing of cords for electronics or lighting.

A key strength of this system is its modular construction. The unit can be assembled in various configurations, allowing it to adapt to different spaces, layouts or evolving needs. The adjustable steel legs ensure the piece can be perfectly levelled, even on uneven floors.

Both functional and sculptural, this is a highly adaptable modular system that works equally well as a workspace, storage solution or statement wall piece. A strong design investment that offers enduring style, flexibility, and long-term appeal.

The entire unit has been restored. As expected with vintage pieces, there are subtle traces of age-related wear visible in some areas. Some original hardware was lost over time. Where necessary, carefully selected replacements have been fitted to ensure the unit remains fully functional, secure, and true to its intended use.

As with many Mid-Century pieces, this item features a thoughtful combination of solid wood and high-quality wood veneer. Veneer has a long and respected tradition in furniture making, valued for both its aesthetic and structural benefits. When crafted with skill and applied in substantial thickness, vintage veneer proves highly durable, allowing for careful restoration, including retouching, sanding, and refinishing without compromising the integrity of the piece.
