A beautifully proportioned Mid-Century dresser by South African furniture maker Frystark, dating to circa the 1960s. Crafted in teak, it showcases the clean lines, warm timber tones, and understated elegance associated with Danish Modern design.
The dresser features four generously sized drawers, two on either side, with distinctive recessed wooden pulls that sit neatly against the drawer fronts. The subtly shaped lower edges/apron and elegant tapered legs give the piece a light, refined appearance.
A standout feature is the three-panel dressing mirrors, with a tilting centre mirror and hinged adjustable side mirrors.
The generous top provides ample space for everyday essentials, while the balanced design makes this a practical yet stylish addition to a bedroom or dressing area.
Frystark was a well-known South African furniture manufacturer, recognised for its quality craftsmanship and Mid-Century furniture designs, many of which drew inspiration from the clean, functional aesthetic of Scandinavian furniture. The dresser retains its original Frystark maker's stamp, confirming its provenance.
Although not originally part of the dresser, the accompanying stool has been thoughtfully paired to complement its design language. Original copper-capped feet and neutral textured fabric on the stool contrast well against the teak.
Condition:
The dresser has been repaired, with sections added and replaced, and fully restored, retaining the natural character of its teak finish. The two side mirror panels were replaced, while the centre mirror has been preserved and displays very minor age-related markings, consistent with its history. The accompanying stool has been refreshed with new upholstery. Overall, the dresser presents very well with a few signs of age and use.

Note/Disclaimer:
Our images form part of the item description. While we make every effort to restore our furniture to its original state, most pieces date from the 1950s to the late 1970s. As a result, and despite restoration, signs of their vintage nature and previous life may still be visible. Light traces of restoration may remain visible, consistent with authentic vintage furniture. In some cases, minor adjustments may also have been made during the restoration process to ensure the piece remains functional and usable. We will point out any notable aspects where possible. We encourage in-store viewing or careful review of photographs before purchase.

As with many Mid-Century pieces, this item features a thoughtful combination of solid wood and high-quality wood veneer. Veneer has a long and respected tradition in furniture making, valued for both its aesthetic and structural benefits. When crafted with skill and applied in substantial thickness, vintage veneer proves highly durable, allowing for careful restoration, including retouching, sanding, and refinishing without compromising the integrity of the piece.
